FROM ACAPULCO TO MANILA: AN UNTOLD PACIFIC RIM STORY

Two of L.A.'s premier world-dance companies make the Mexican-Filipino connection. Danza Floricanto and Kayamanan Ng Lahi transform the rich cargo of the Acapulco to Manila galleon to the stage with sensuous movements, exotic rhythms and opulent spectacle. Music and dance traditions of both countries intermingled though nearly three centuries of trade. This cultural crossover finds joyful expression in the habañera, paso doble, waltzes, mazurkas and jotas. Set sail on this journey where the fiery passion of Floricanto meets the vibrant traditions of Kayamanan.
