DANZA FLORICANTO
& KAYAMANAN NG LAHI
FROM ACAPULCO TO MANILA: AN UNTOLD PACIFIC RIM STORY
Two of L.A.'s premier world-dance companies make the Mexican-Filipino
connection. Danza Floricanto and Kayamanan Ng Lahi transform the rich
cargo of the Acapulco to Manila galleon to the stage with sensuous movements,
exotic rhythms and opulent spectacle. Music and dance traditions of both
countries intermingled though nearly three centuries of trade. This cultural
crossover finds joyful expression in the habañera, paso
doble, waltzes, mazurkas and jotas. Set sail on this journey
where the fiery passion of Floricanto meets the vibrant traditions of
Kayamanan.
