The Colburn Children's Choir

The Colburn Children’s Choir, from L.A.’s esteemed music conservatory, The Colburn School, joins Los Pinguos for a choral take on the band’s engaging “Noche Buena.”

Colburn Children's Choir is a vocal ensemble of the Colburn School of Performing Arts. The Choir is dedicated to study and performance of outstanding choral music. The group regularly performs at the Zipper Hall and other venues in the Los Angeles area. Past seasons saw the Colburn Children's Choir performing at the California Music Educators conference, touring China, and singing at Carnegie Hall.

Dr. Mikhail Shtangrud, Director of the Colburn Children’s Choir, studied Choral Conducting at the Moscow State Music College named after Tchaikovskii, and earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from California State University at Northridge. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education at the University of Southern California. In addition to his work as the Director of Vocal Ensembles at the Colburn School of Performing Arts, Dr. Shtangrud serves as the Artistic Director of the Burbank Chorale and the Music Director at Mayfield Junior School in Pasadena.
