EXECUTIVE COACHING INITIATIVE (ECI)
With funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the County’s Quality and Productivity Commission, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission launched the Executive Coaching Initiative (ECI) in fall 2005. Through ECI, leaders from large budget arts organizations are trained in professional coaching skills, which are then put to use in coaching leaders of midsize budget arts organizations.
ECI builds upon the ALI program and takes the leadership program one step further by providing midsize budget leaders with one-on-one coaching and guidance from successful leaders of large budget organizations. The goal of this program is to develop a deeper level of leadership within the arts community in Los Angeles, while also connecting leaders of arts organizations in more meaningful ways.
Ten executive leaders from organizations with budgets greater than $1 million were selected to participate in coach training during 2005/06. These ten leaders are providing coaching to ten leaders of other arts organizations within the Arts Commission’s OGP II and 2.5 grant programs.
