The Academy Oral History Projects Department seeks an organized, enthusiastic intern to assist the Oral History Projects department with metadata gathering and research and to support the development of cataloging workflows specifically for oral history interviews with notable filmmakers. The internship will focus on preparing audiovisual interviews that have been deposited at the Academy Film Archive for future access by scholars, researchers, curators, and the general public. Community college and undergraduate film students with a strong interest in moving image archival studies or library science with a focus on audiovisual archives are encouraged to apply. This position will work 20-30 hours a week from June 2025 to August 2025. This internship is part of Academy Gold Rising, a summer internship enhancement and mentorship program that includes weekly industry panels, workshops, screenings, and Academy member mentorship opportunities. The Academy Foundation organizes and oversees the educational, cultural, and preservation programs of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This includes the Academy Film Archive, Margaret Herrick Library, and Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The Academy Oral History Projects department records, collects, and preserves audio and visual interviews with the working professionals who form the rich fabric of filmmaking history – from designers, documentarians, and executives to actors, animators, technicians, and composers.
