Description

Dance and Dialogue’s Education & Social Media Intern will be an important member of the company’s staff in the summer and fall of 2025 as the company prepares for its new year of In-School and Community-Based Residencies, and its Fall All-City Workshop.  The Intern will gain a breadth of experience in arts education, social media marketing, administration, and project management through a range of responsibilities, gaining insight and perspectives in running a professional arts education company. Individuals with experience in classroom management or marketing, graphic design, written communications, and photo and video editing will stand out.  General computer skills are required, including but not limited to proficiency in Google Suite, Dropbox, Zoom, and all social media platforms. The Intern will work a hybrid schedule 15-hours per week from June to January, including in-person on-site at D&D programs throughout Los Angeles and some administrative tasks at home.
 

Qualifications

Beyond the required qualifications of the grant program, competitive candidates for the Education and Social Media Internship will have:    1) Passion and respect for the performing arts and arts education, with a working knowledge of dance or theatre 2) Excellent organizational and time management skills 3) Experience in or a strong interest in non-profit arts management 4) Graphic design experience and interest 5) Social Media experience and interest  6) Strong written communication skills 7) Knowledge of Mac/PC operating systems and proficiency in Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, Zoom, Canva, and Docusign  8) An active CA driver’s license, personal vehicle, and valid car insurance.   Students with event planning experience, including pre-planning, day of/on the ground support, and logistics are encouraged to apply. The Intern must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with the performing arts is a plus. 
 

Background

Dance and Dialogue (D&D) centers youth voices through an interconnected web of arts programming, which includes in-school residencies, after school enrichment programs, peer mentoring training, family workshops, summer leadership intensives, and All City Workshops that gather middle and high schoolers from across a region of Los Angeles in one location for a cultural exchange. D&D programs utilize movement, multidisciplinary art instruction, and conversation to encourage creative self-expression.
