Kaya Press is seeking a Marketing and Communications intern that will help develop social media promotional campaigns for an independent LA literary press to promote books and events. This includes pitching stories and event coverage to media outlets, organizing virtual literary events that build community, and managing a WordPress-based website. The Marketing and Communications intern will work approximately 15 hours per week from June 2025 to February 2026.
Beyond an interest in literature and publishing, we are looking for candidates with an interest in and facility for writing and research; an understanding of how to create spreadsheets and presentations; and critical thinking abilities. Interest in or curiosity about teaching/education a plus.
Kaya Press is an award-winning LA-based independent publisher of cutting-edge fiction, poetry, and non-fiction that seeks to expand the vision of Asian and Pacific Islander diasporic literature. The only API press of its kind in the US, we publish books that promote innovative, experimental, and/or genre-bending perspectives and new voices; recover important and overlooked literary classics. We also seek to showcase the ways in which editors and writers of color are transforming literary publishing.
