Description

The intern filling this position will be working to support LTSC’s Little Tokyo Neighbors program, a creative community leadership program that engages affordable housing residents living in LTSC buildings in Little Tokyo and Skid Row. Previous Little Tokyo Neighbors projects have included a newsletter, a documentary, art workshops, and a media campaign.   The internship will be an opportunity for the intern to develop their own creative practice and hone their civic practice art skills, and also practice creating art with people from widely varied backgrounds. The intern will work with LTSC's team as well as stakeholders from the communities of Skid Row and Little Tokyo  This position will work approximately 15 hours a week from June through February 
 

Qualifications

Passion for social justice and experience using creative practice to initiate social change, background with community organizing and/or facilitating creative collaboration, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal/relationship building skills, sense of humor, experience successfully working on collaborative projects, knowledge of creative community development/place-keeping practice is a plus.
 

Background

LTSC is a social services and community development organization based in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive array of social welfare and community development services to assist low income individuals and other persons in need, contribute to community revitalization and cultural preservation in Little Tokyo and and to partner with neighboring communities of color.
