Description

The Artistic Intern will participate in development, planning, and coordination of our 2025 season of events musically exploring legendary moments of American history rooted in a specific time and place. The intern will work closely with the Curatorial Manager to perform extensive research of repertoire, composers, local, national, and international history and culture, assisting in the preparation of slides, videos, and multi-media materials to be used for each performance. The intern will work as part of the artistic and production teams to facilitate logistics of putting on performing arts events by communicating with contractors and concert venue representatives, preparing event materials and equipment, maintaining database of visual materials, and prepping and cataloguing music. Background in some aspect of art history, music history, musicology or history studies preferred. Spanish language fluency is a plus. This position will work 20-25hrs/wk from June-Nov, 2025, though flexibility is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

MUSE/IQUE is seeking a reliable, self-starting intern with honesty, integrity, and curiosity. Above all, they must have a deep desire to learn and a strong sense of initiative. Successful candidates are punctual and conduct themselves respectfully with good attention to detail, work well under pressure, and be a proactive problem-solver with an ability to balance multiple tasks independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines. The intern must have strong and effective written communication, organizational, and project management skills.  Must have experience in music or the performing arts with background in some aspect of art history, music history, musicology or history studies preferred. Literacy in standard music notation a plus, as is fluency in Spanish.  For events, the intern must be available to work some evening and weekend hours and have a reliable form of transportation and current driver’s license. Parking and mileage for business mileage will be reimbursed.
