Over the last 50 years, the poetic rendition and visual documentation of the Southern California land and urban scape have been the dominant focus of artist Robbert Flick’s artistic inquiry. He has evolved a way of photographically collecting imagery from a moving vehicle or train to create map-like representations of specific sites and neighborhoods. The Harbor Freeway Series (2012) traces the visual journey from a commuter’s point of view while encountering the Harbor freeway traffic. The Harbor Freeway itself is an essential part of any recollection of downtown Los Angeles. HBR_06-A2, HBR_06-A3 and HBR_06-A4 represent three digital pillar components within the larger HBR_06, March 12, 2012 photographic sequence.
