Root West, 2019, Watercolor on paper
This painting is inspired by urban ecological relationships among the landscapes of the Los Angeles Basin. At the same time, it is a personal examination of my sense of place in Los Angeles, my interactions and memories of the land, and how I relate to the identity tied to this locale. The image references the nocturnal White Lined Sphinx Moth, which pollinates the Cereus Night Blooming Cactus.
Mother, 2018, Watercolor on paper
This painting celebrates the strength, depth, and beauty of motherhood. It honors that person, whoever they may be to us, who is like a granite stronghold in our lives, guiding us from infancy, through hardships, joy, and beyond.
