The working class of Los Angeles is the true heart of the city. We are the blood rushing through its veins, its freeways, its streets. We breathe life into this wounded city every second, and yet we are often forgotten, discarded, evicted, deported, arrested, abandoned, and gentrified out of existence. This letter is a manifestation of the love and respect I have for our people and communities. Without the working class this city would deteriorate. If Los Angeles is a blank canvas, then the people are the inspiration, the colors, the brushes, the artwork.
