Creative Career Pathways

We have resources and opportunities for people interested in exploring, starting, or strengthening their careers in the arts and creative economy!

These resources include apprenticeships and college readiness programs for youth; work-based learning and internships for young people; and jobs, career advancement, and professional development for early and mid-career creative workers, arts administrators, and artists.

Creative Career Pathways for Youth

These programs prepare youth for careers in the arts and creative industries, including work-based learning and leadership opportunities.

Creative Careers Online

This online resource introduces young people to a variety of creative careers and provides information about what is needed to land their first job. It features diverse professionals who speak frankly about how to succeed and identifies steps for pursuing high-growth creative careers.

Arts Internship Program (AIP)

Learn more about the Department of Arts and Culture’s paid summer internship program, providing access to high quality opportunities for college students of all backgrounds, who gain experience, understanding, and transferable skills relevant to careers in the arts and LA County’s creative economy.

Public Artists in Development (PAiD)

This new program, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, promotes the career growth and economic empowerment of underrepresented artists in LA County. The program expands educational resources, training, mentorship, and new project opportunities to encourage the skill-building and professional readiness of diverse artists.

Professional Development

These events and programs serve artists, arts organizations and their staffs, civic and community leaders, and educators.

Arts Education and Youth Development

We engage many partners in a coordinated approach to positive youth development, embedding the arts within multiple school and community-based settings and County systems of care.
