HOLA began in 1989 as a volunteer-led program with the goal to provide physical and emotional safety for children living in Los Angeles’ Rampart/Westlake neighborhood. Since opening our doors, we have steadily grown to reach more than 3,000 students each year, ages 6-24, through an academic pipeline that serves students in first grade through postsecondary, a sophisticated visual arts program, a comprehensive music program, premier athletics leagues, focused Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) offerings, and a Family Services Department working to meet the basic needs of each HOLA student and family. HOLA’s team aims to reach youth with the least access to resources, listen and respond to the needs of those we serve, and maintain rigorous and high-quality services that will help young people become resilient and empowered for self-determination.
