The Production Intern will be a key member of the team producing the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival, an entire summer of classical theater presented free to tens of thousands of Angelenos. The intern will serve as the Assistant Stage Manager for the mainstage production of the Festival. The intern’s duties during rehearsal process include note taking, being responsible for props and other assigned tasks that support the Stage Manager, Director, Producers and Designers. For the run of the production, the intern will be a part of the backstage team for, working approximately 40 hours a week from June through Labor Day.
The intern should have a great interest in theater-making. The intern must possess strong interpersonal skills, time-management skills, be a team player, a problem solver, and a selfstarter. The intern should have a basic understanding of the production process; prior technical theatre experience in areas of stage management, scenic building, lighting, and/or sound design is preferable. The intern should be collaborative, flexible, positive, and enthusiastic, and not be afraid to get their hands dirty. Light carpentry skills and basic sewing skills are assets. Evening and weekend hours are required. Reliable transportation is required
