Description

LAMusArt's 2025 Arts Education Intern works closely with a team of professional artists to develop an understanding of effective arts instruction while playing a critical role in the way a young student learns and engages in Music, Art, Dance and Drama. This internship is designed for students in an arts and/or education-related field with a passion for providing high-quality creative instruction to ensure a lasting impact in traditionally underinvested in communities. The primary responsibilities are centered around LAMusArt’s multidisciplinary summer program, Camp MusArt, as well as the assessment of the organization’s Curriculum Framework. This position will work approximately 30-40 hours a week from June through September.
 

Qualifications

Enrollment in an accredited college or university is required. Strong interest in nonprofit arts management or arts/education program experience. Knowledge of basic customer service functions. Strong computer skills (especially in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and Adobe Suite). Strong social media skills. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities. Ability to work cooperatively and as part of a team and a self-starter. Willing to learn about processes and systems. Strong interest in maintaining access to arts education for under-resourced communities. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Familiarity with Canva preferred. Possession of a valid California driver’s license, personal vehicle, and valid insurance preferred. Candidate must pass a background check. 
 

Background

The Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) is a cornerstone for arts education on LA’s Eastside, serving the community for nearly 80 years. The organization is centered in East Los Angeles and is a haven for arts learning in Music, Art, Dance and Drama for all, primarily K-12 youth. Each week, LAMusArt engages over 500 students of varying backgrounds, levels, and interests offering consistent, reliable, year-round programs to place children on a creative path to a creative future.
