Sierra Madre Playhouse (SMP) seeks a COMMUNICATIONS & DEVELOPMENT INTERN who is interested in creating captivating visual and written stories that resonate with our community. This internship will provide hands-on experience in key aspects of managing a performing arts venue, and offer you a comprehensive understanding of the lifeline of a performing arts center: its supporters. This position will work 15-20 hours per week from August–February, and support our engagement and fundraising initiatives including designing and maintaining a marketing calendar that expands the reach of our work; and evaluating and analyzing the effectiveness of our communication strategies. We will value your creative input as we work to curate a portfolio of photography that chronicles SMP performances. Your talent for storytelling will ignite a passion for our mission and encourage others to invest in the arts, allowing us to continue providing exceptional experiences for our community.
The ideal candidate will: – Possess an interest in the performing arts and arts access – Possess excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills – Act responsibly and with a friendly and professional demeanor – Be inquisitive and willing to learn new skills – Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Windows Office Suite and Google Workspace – Apply acquired knowledge about SMP in daily interactions with staff Candidates should be motivated, sociable, collegial, dependable, and adaptable team players. SMP values fresh perspectives/ideas to accomplish tasks and realize goals. Candidates will be offered a flexible weekly schedule based on the interns schedule and to be coordinated with leadership. Some remote work will be allowed.
