This internship in Theater Arts Education will provide hands on experience working with professional theater artists, from one of Los Angeles’ most recognized theaters, teaching school age children playwriting and storytelling at LA area Boys & Girls Clubs. It is for 12 to 15 weeks (400 hours) from mid-June through early September for approximately 25 to 30 hours a week. Interns must commit to working the full 400 hours.
The ability to listen and work well with others is the primary skill set. Past experience in Theater Arts Education is an asset but not required. Passion for the arts is and working with children are. Independent thinking and the ability to problem solve is encouraged and will be nurtured.
“Celebrating Voices Playwriting & Storytelling” (CV) is Rogue Machine Theatre’s (RMT) educational outreach program. CV strives to bring the art of storytelling to youth throughout LA County. It has had generous funding from the Cultural Arts Council, an educational trust and LA County. RMT is now in residence at LA's historic Matrix Theatre on Melrose Avenue, began production in 2008 as a performing arts organization seeking to serve the greater Los Angeles community by developing and nurturing emerging playwrights and introducing important contemporary works to Southern California. Rogue Machine believes in excellence in Art and has won four Los Angeles Drama Critic Circle Awards for Outstanding Production of the year and 2 Best season Awards in the last 10 years.
