Description

The Development Intern for the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra will work approximately 15 hours a week from September through March, with a mix of remote and on-site work. The intern will assist with fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations to support the Symphony’s growth and community impact. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development, allowing the intern to research funding opportunities, draft proposals, and engage with patrons and sponsors. Ideal for those passionate about the arts, this position offers the chance to learn essential skills in fundraising and nonprofit management. 
 

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this position include strong written and verbal communication skills, research abilities, and a detail-oriented approach to managing multiple tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace is expected, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in both remote and on-site settings.  Preferred qualifications include familiarity with fundraising principles, grant writing, or donor relations. Experience in database management (e.g., Excel or CRM software) is a plus. A passion for the arts and interest in nonprofit work are highly desirable, as is a willingness to attend rehearsals and concerts to gain firsthand understanding of the organization's programs and community engagement.  The intern may conduct on-site visits to local businesses or donors; therefore, a valid driver’s license is preferred.
