Join us for an evening of music and art at A C Bilbrew Library as we celebrate the library’s 50^th anniversary and the unveiling of one of Los Angeles County’s first-ever permanent sound art installations created by Mekala Session of the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra at nearby Athens Park.

To mark this milestone, Mekala Session, together with Diego Gaeta and Jesse Justice (Human Error Club) will perform a musical set responding to the Golden State Mutual Collection, a collection of historic artworks by Blacks artists, on display at A C Bilbrew. The celebration will also feature a curated slideshow of the collection with talks on both the artworks and the Pan Afrikan Arkestra's history, showcasing the vibrant contribution of Black artists in Los Angeles and legacy of a rich interchange of jazz and visual art for an intergenerational audience. This event is presented by LA County Department of Arts and Culture in collaboration with Label Curatorial, Narin Dickerson, and Maryam Hosseinzadeh.
